Iran Condemns Missile Strike on Minab School

(MENAFN) Iran on Wednesday denounced the Feb. 28 missile attack on a primary school in the southern city of Minab as an “unforgivable” war crime and demanded that those accountable face justice.

Esmaeil Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, emphasized that the assault, which Iranian officials claim resulted in the deaths of 168 schoolchildren, cannot remain unpunished.

On the US social media platform X, Baqaei described a “double-tap American Tomahawk missile” strike on Feb. 28 in Minab, saying it “slaughtered 168 Iranian little angels.” He called it “An unforgivable egregious war crime that must not go with impunity.”

Iranian state television previously indicated that the attack specifically hit an all-girls primary school in Minab, a city in Hormozgan province in southern Iran. According to the broadcast, more than 170 individuals, including students and teachers, were killed in the strike.

The event has attracted global attention amid contradictory claims over who carried out the assault, though the majority of analyses suggest it originated from the US.

US President Donald Trump had earlier implied that Iran might have been responsible for the attack, stating: “Based on what I’ve seen, that was done by Iran.”

Following reports that the strike involved Tomahawk cruise missiles, which are typically used by the US military, Trump also asserted—without providing evidence—that Iran had access to some Tomahawks.
