Germany investigates suspects accused of sharing child abuse images

(MENAFN) German police on Monday announced investigations into 250 individuals suspected of sharing images depicting the sexual abuse of minors.

Bavarian authorities said the probe began after examining a mobile phone seized in early 2022, which contained files showing abuse involving more than 1,500 children.

Investigators determined that the illicit content had been circulated across multiple messaging groups with numerous participants.

So far, more than 300 people have been identified in connection with the case, and formal investigations have been launched against 250 suspects. Authorities reviewed over 230,000 messages and more than 80,000 file attachments, finding that over 1,000 messages contained material indicative of criminal activity.
